87, of Birmingham, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2007.
As a native of Michigan, Jim served as a major in the Air Force during World War
II and flew jets for TWA. He launched his automotive career some 52 years ago as
a salesman for O.Z. Hall Ford in Birmingham. As one of the founders of
Birmingham Automobile Dealers Association and owner of Jim Skinner Ford and Jim
Skinner Honda in Dothan, he received numerous honors and awards from Ford Motor
Company and has been recognized as the No. 1 volume new car dealer in the state.
Widely known for his TV commercials, he was active in community organizations
throughout Birmingham. He is survived by his children, Robert M. Skinner, Jane
M. Walker, James H. Skinner, Jr., and William E. Skinner; grandchildren, Robert
M. Skinner, Jr., J. Vaughn Skinner, Jeff B. Walker, Rebecca A. Esquivel, William
E. Skinner, Jr., G. Eliot Skinner; great-grandchildren, Dalton R. Skinner, Logan

AL area most of her life and a member of the Detroit Methodist Church. She was a
school teacher for twenty-two years, first a Pleasant Hill Elementary School in
Vernon, AL, and later at the Detroit Elementary School in Detroit, AL.
Survived by 2 daughters, Sylvia (Billy Carl) Eastman of Sulligent, AL and
Cynthia (Larry) Crosby of Detroit, AL; 4 grandchildren, Keith Crosby, Brian

Bruce Turner, age 72, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Saturday, August 11,
2007, in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.
Jackie Bruce Turner was born on March 30, 1935 in Fayette County, Alabama to the
late Bruce H. and Verler Palmer Turner. He was a resident of Marion County in
the Winfield area most of his life. He was a graduate of Hubbertville High
School and was retired from Continental Conveyor and Equipment Co. in Winfield
where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #304 in
Winfield and was active in the Winfield and Hubbertville athletic programs. He
was a member of White s Chapel Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Thomas and Maxine Rutledge; brother-in-law and sister-in-law,
Burcy and Sarah Johnson; and nephew, Lonnie Rutledge Box.
Funeral services, Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. from the Whites Chapel
Church of Christ with graveside services on held Tuesday. Aug. 14, 2007, at
11:00 a.m. in the adjoining cemetery. Roger Hubbert and John Brown officiating.

Pritchett, J. C. - Age 83
- Adamsville, AL
J.C. Pritchett, 83, Adamsville, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007.
He was the son of the late Sterling and Elsie Pritchett. He was a member and
deacon at Vestavia Primitive Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War
II. He was a charter member of the Forestdale Lions Club, where he was past
president, and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was owner of Pritchett Building Co. and
several other business interests for 60 years. He was a member of the Greater
Birmingham Home Builders Association. He was a Hall of Fame inductee into the
Greater Birmingham Home Builders Association and the Home builders Association
of Alabama. He initiated and helped found the Hackleburg High School Scholarship
Fund, of which he served as chairman from its inception in 1989 until May 2007.
He was a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Mr. Prichett was a
Master Journeyman Carpenter. He had a passion for music, especially bluegrass.
He played the fiddle and mandolin in a band with his brothers at many family and
community functions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by th following brothers
and sisters: Lucille Pritchett Baker, W.T., Thomas, and L.D. Pritchett and
Connie Pritchett West.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. from the New
Horizon Memorial Chapel with burial in the New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Elder
Ernie Stump, Elder Guy Hunt, and Elder Sam Bryant were the officiating
ministers.
Survivors include his wife of 61 1/2 years - Willow Dean Pritchett; children -

Carl Richard Wood, Jr., age 83, of Bridgewater, VA, died on Sunday, August
26, 2007 at the Bridgewater Home.
He was born in Phil Campbell, AL on July 22, 1924, and was a son of the late
Carl Richard Wood, Sr. and Cora Ford Wood. Mr. Wood worked as an insurance
executive at OneBeacon Insurance. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed being
outdoors. Growing up in Franklin County, AL, Mr. Wood played basketball for
Belgreen High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II from
1942-1945. He received his bachelor's degree from Auburn University where he was
also a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was a member of the Bridgewater United
Methodist Church. On March 23, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Dudley
Wood of Bridgewater, VA who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Jean Wood Colquett (Ted) of
Birmingham; two sons, Alan Richard Wood (Missy) of Candler, NC, and William
Clarke Wood (Jane) of Bridgewater, VA. Also surviving are six grandchildren,
Mary Coston Colquett and Elizabeth McLendon Colquett of Birmingham; Douglas
Clarke Wood and Stuart Hardin Wood of Bridgewater, VA; Allyson Wood Carreon
(Jeff) of New Milford, NJ, and Brittany Wood Davenport (John) of St. Petersburg,
FL; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for September 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Lantz

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Baxter
Bobo and Charlie Brown; son, Rick Baxter Bobo; daughter, Gypsy Anita Swanson;
and granddaughter, Nahaliel Hon Cantelli.

He is survived by 2 sons, Ralph Burleson, and Rodger (Pam) Burleson; 2 grandchildren, Ame (Kenneth) Johnsey, and Bart (Beth) Burleson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
